Kimberly Seals Allers is an award-winning business journalist, former writer at Fortune magazine and author of The Mocha Manual to Turning Your Passion into Profit (Amistad/HarperCollins), a must-read guidebook for aspiring entrepreneurs. She is a respected authority on entrepreneurship, careers and work/life balance for working mothers.

Seals-Allers has been a frequent expert columnist and guest speaker on parenting, motherhood, and work/life balance for several magazines and websites. She also appears frequently on television and radio and is a regular guest speaker and lecturer on topics ranging from personal finance and career issues, work life balance for mothers, along with various other issues pertaining to African-American women. She has also held several academic posts, including serving as an adjunct professor of Journalism at NYU, Long Island University, and City College of the City University of New York.

Seals-Allers previously served as senior editor, personal finance and careers, at Essence magazine and also served as host of Essence's nationwide Work & Wealth events, where she conducted live "talk show" style workshops about money, business building and careers in various cities. Prior to joining Essence, Kimberly was a reporter and staff writer for Fortune magazine, the Wall Street reporter and columnist at the New York Post, and as a business writer for The Times of London.

Her freelance work has appeared in Ladies Home Journal, the New York Daily News, Real Simple, Better Homes & Gardens , Family Money, The Independent (London), Fortune, Pregnancy, and others. She is also a co-author of Giving Notice: Why the Best and Brightest are Leaving the Workplace (Jossey Bass).

An accomplished entrepreneur in her own right, Seals-Allers is the author of The Mocha Manual series of books and founder of The Mocha Manual Company, which serves as an umbrella company for a multimedia brand for women of color. The company operates MochaManual.com, a fast-growing online magazine for mothers of color. The Mocha Manual series of books published by Amistad/HarperCollins includes: The Mocha Manual to a Fabulous Pregnancy, a NAACP Image Award nominated book, the recently released Mocha Manual to Turning Your Passion into Profit, and the upcoming Mocha Manual to Military Life which will be released in June. An instructional DVD based on Seals-Allers' pregnancy book is sold nationwide at Wal-Mart and in Acme Supermarkets.

Seals-Allers holds a BA from New York University, and a M.S. from Columbia University. A Queens, New York native, she currently resides in Bay Shore, New York with her two children.
