Dr. Sheryl G. Ziegler, psychologist specializing in children and families, founded and operates The Child and Family Therapy Center at Lowry, a group private practice. Over the course of 10 years, Dr. Ziegler has led over 10,000 face-to-face sessions focused on mommy burnout and its related issues, including anxiety, depression, and divorce. In January 2018, Dr. Ziegler’s book, Mommy Burnout: How Addressing Yours Will Make You a Better Mother and Create a Better Life for Your Children (Dey Street Books), a handbook for the modern mother, debuts.
Moms, do you feel tired? Overwhelmed? Have you continually put off the things you need to do for you? Do you feel like it’s all worth it because your kids are happy? Are you "over" being a mother? If you answered yes to these questions, you’re not alone. Parents today want to create the ideal childhood for their children. Women strive to be the picture-perfect Pinterest mother that looks amazing, hosts the best birthday parties in town, posts the most "liked" photos, and serves delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals in her neat, organized home after ferrying the kids to school and a host of extracurricular activities on time. This drive, while noble, can also be destructive, causing stress and anxiety that leads to "mommy burnout." Dr. Ziegler is well-versed in the stress that moms face, and the burden of guilt they carry because they often feel like they aren’t doing enough for their kids’ happiness. She has devised a prescriptive program for addressing "mommy burnout"—teaching moms that they can learn to re-energize themselves and still feel good about their families and their lives. In this warm and empathetic guide, she examines this modern epidemic among mothers who put their children’s happiness above their own, and offers empowering, proven solutions for alleviating this condition, saving marriages and keeping kids happy in the process.

She was also recently featured on NPR’s live one hour radio broadcast on Navigating the New Pot Talk in the Time of Legal Weed. Praise for Dr. Sheryl Ziegler:
“Dr. Ziegler you helped both my daughter and I feel at ease right away in your talk this weekend! My daughter in particular was very nervous about learning about her period and you had a way of making everyone feel relaxed and before we knew it we were laughing and smiling. You are relateable and approachable and I can’t wait to talk more classes with you- thank you so much! I will highly recommend any of your talks to my friends and the administration at school.”

“Dr. Ziegler you are funny! I didn’t want to come this weekend to learn about gross things but now I am glad I did. Now I don’t feel scared to get my period, or go to middle school, I am excited! I cried a little when you talked about how my friends might change but it’s okay because now I know I am going to change too and it’s all going to be okay. You helped me feel more confident and prepared for middle school drama. I feel so much better about just being me! Thank you for coming to our school, I hope you come back.”
