Peter Post is a director of the Emily Post Institute and author of three etiquette books, including the second edition of The Etiquette Advantage in Business: Personal Skills for Professional Success. As the creator and primary presenter of the Emily Post Business Etiquette Seminar series, Post leads business seminars for companies in the United States and Europe. Emily Post Business Etiquette Seminars grew by 375 percent during 2006. In 2011, the Post family released the 18th edition of Emily Post's Etiquette: Manners For a New World (William Morrow), which tackles the latest issues of the twenty-first century - from texting and tweeting to iPhones and Facebook.
Post's book Essential Manners for Men was released in 2004 and was a New York Times best-seller. Both Essential Manners for Men and his follow-up Essential Manners for Couples mark a departure from the Emily Post Institute’s current titles. With a distinct voice and unique perspective, Post tackles manners foibles with self-deprecating humor, clarity and wit. Since its release, Essential Manners for Men has been reprinted eight times and Post has done more than 500 media interviews on the subject of men’s manners.
Post has spoken at for a variety of organizations, such as: Citigroup, Ernst & Young, Deloitte Services, Deutsche Bank, Sloane-Kettering Memorial Cancer Center, Verizon, Pfizer, Fidelity Investments, General Dynamics, Hallmark Cards, M.I.T., University of Denver, Dartmouth College, Wharton School of Business, Northwestern University, Perdue University, and The Colony Club, New York.
Since 2004, Post has authored The Boston Sunday Globe’s weekly question and answer business etiquette advice column, “Etiquette at Work.” The New York Times Syndicate distributes the column. The Boston Globe’s website, Boston.com, features podcasts with Post based on recent column topics.
Post conducts hundreds of media interviews annually on topics ranging from CEO ethics to dealing with coworkers with body odor; from dinner party etiquette to confronting “the dark side of email.”
One of Emily Post’s four great-grandchildren, Post also owns a marketing and public relations agency. He has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, communications, design and education. Post holds a master’s degree in fine art from Pratt Institute and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
