TRAVELS FROM
Texas
Lee Labrada, author of The Lean Body Promise: Burn Away Fat and Release the Leaner, Stronger Body Inside You, is founder, CEO, and president of Labrada Nutrition, a sports nutrition company specializing in supplemental products and functional foods and education to help people reach their fitness goals.
Labrada has appeared on the covers of more than 100 magazines worldwide and has appeared as a fitness and nutrition expert on ABC’s Extreme Makeover, CNBC, FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, WGN, and ESPN television. He provides ongoing training and nutrition information to more than 65,000 people through his free weekly e-newsletter, the “Lean Body Coaching Club,” accessible at www.leanbodycoach.com.
Highly motivated, Labrada came to the U.S. at age two, when his family fled the Communist regime in his native Cuba. Settling in Chicago, the family rebuilt their lives. Labrada credits his desire to excel to his humble beginnings. Following the example of his father, he learned that with hard work and a powerful vision, you can achieve any dream. A Houston native since 1980, he lives there with his wife Robin and their three young boys. From 2002 to 2004 he served as the city’s first Fitness Czar and is credited with helping the city shed its “fattest city in America” title in 2004.
A bodybuilder since his teens, at age 25 Labrada achieved one of his longtime dreams by winning the International Federation of Body Building (IFBB) Mr. Universe competition. He went on to win 22 major bodybuilding titles and has since been inducted into the IFBB Pro Bodybuilding Hall of Fame. He placed in the top four of the Mr. Olympia competition for seven consecutive years – a feat matched by few men, including Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Retiring from professional competition in 1995, Labrada launched Labrada Nutrition the next year, a company he took to Inc 500 status in only six years – one of the fastest growing privately-held companies in the U.S.
