Lauren Streicher, MD has devoted her career to the premise that if women are given good information, they will make good decisions for themselves and the people around them. Streicher is an Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University’s medical school, The Feinberg School of Medicine. With clinical experience in all aspects of women’s health, she has a particular interest and expertise in menopause and sexual health.
More than 100 million women in America have problems in the bedroom, but don’t have the courage to ask their doctors for help. These problems don’t come from relationship issues, or the stresses of everyday life. These are real, physical issues that are getting in the way of a vibrant, joyful sex life. Instead of getting the help they need, so many women make a silent deal with themselves: without fanfare, without discussion, they quietly give up on pleasure, or drastically compromise their expectations where sex is concerned. Sometimes women make this deal with themselves early on—in their 20s or 30s; for other women, it doesn’t hit until their 40s, 50s or later. Most women have lack the vocabulary to talk about these issues with their doctors, not to mention the pharmaceutical aids that are readily available to men. But no longer.
Streicher’s Sex Rx (Dey Street Books), will set women on a path to discovering (or rediscovering) deeply pleasurable, satisfying sex. As the expert in the field of women’s sexual health that experts turn to, she will show women how to re-find their libido and fix whatever is broken “down there.” She offers practical advice for real women, and explains what a woman needs to know about her body, her lifestyle, and her relationships, and how it connects to a satisfying sex life.
An avid speaker, Streicher has entertained every kind of venue and group imaginable, whether it’s a women’s group, library, charity, or corporation. She is able to tailor her speech to men and women of all ages as well as provide a range of options, from a typical keynote, a community talk, academic focused speeches, or an interactive panel.
Streicher’s experience and expertise has enabled her to hold roles and memberships in many prestigious societies and organizations. She is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, Inc., The International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, The Scientific Network on Female Sexual Health and Cancer, The Association for Gynecologic Laparoscopy, and is a Certified Menopause Practitioner of The North American Menopause Society.
Currently, Streicher is appearing regularly on ABC’S Windy City Live!, and is a recurring guest on shows such as The Dr. Oz Show, The Steve Harvey Show, the Oprah Winfrey Show, 20/20, The Today Show, and ABC News, where she serves as a medical correspondent.
