Kendall A. King is an Associate Professor of Linguistics at Georgetown University. Her research encompasses ideological, interactional, and policy perspectives on second language learning and bilingualism, with particular attention to educational practices impacting language use among minority populations in Latin America and Spanish speakers in the U.S. 

She and Allison Mackey are the co-authors of The Bilingual Edge, a popular audience book on child second language learning recently published by HarperCollins.They are also parents. Each of them have two children who are learning second languages. They can be booked together or separately.

King has given dozens of presentations at various universities and conferences worldwide on the topics of education, linguistics, and language. She has published widely in the areas of child bilingualism and how languages are used and learned in multilingual contexts, including the home, community, and school.  She has authored/edited five major books and published articles in journals such as First Language, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, Language and Education, International Journal of the Sociology of Language, Journal of Child Language, and the International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, as well as in edited volumes published by Cambridge, Blackwell, and Multilingual Matters Press.

King received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has spoken widely to professional organizations as well as to parenting and teacher groups on the topic of bilingualism and child language learning both nationally and internationally.
